Illyrian Polish "Compel" - Swatches & Review
I've got a short and simple post for you today! I purchased Illyrian "Compel" along with some other shades a few months back. I ended up loving it so much more than I expected to, that it felt post-worthy. I've been a fan of Illyrian Polish since they started and I don't see that changing any time soon.
"Compel" is described by the maker as an orchid base packed with copper shimmer and subtle holo. It was part of the Spellbind collection which released in early 2017.
Let's admire it, shall we?
Artificial Light
All of the photos above were taken right after completing my manicure under artificial light. This polish really glows from within! I used 3 thin coats + topcoat, but next time I think I could get away with two. I really only needed the third to even out some streaks from my second coat when I wasn't paying attention. Oops. Overall the formula was easy to work with and provided good coverage.
This polish can be a real chameleon! In more subdued lighting, it has a golden sheen to it, while under direct light or bright sunlight, it really glows and the subtle holo comes out to play. Really gorgeous either way and I was surprised by how much I loved it! Illyrian does copper shimmer really, really well though, so I don't know why I was so shocked. Purple can just be so tricky to photograph that you're never quite sure how it will look in real life.
Indirect Natural Light
The next photos show my mani 5 or 6 days later (it's been so long that I can't remember what day I painted these!). I just wanted to show how well this polish held up. Aside from some growth and very, very minimal tip wear, my nails still look good as new.
So there you have it. Illyrian Polish "Compel" is a very pretty purple that you probably need in your life.
It's not in stock in their shop at the moment, (I know, I'm the worst), but check through their stockists and the Facebook fan group for possible restocks.
