Ever After Polish & Great Lakes Lacquer Dream, Sparkle Shine Duo

Ever After Polish & Great Lakes Lacquer Dream, Sparkle Shine Duo

I recently purchased this duo and decided to share a review with you all since a limited number of sets are still available.

This set is still available in limited quantities as of 6/21/17, so if you love it, RUN, don't walk, to buy it in the Ever After shop. After this batch is gone, it's gone for good! It's $20 + shipping for the two polishes.

A bit about the polishes, from the Ever After site:

β€œDream Sparkle Shine is a collaboration with Great Lakes Lacquer, celebrating the theme of Spring Polish Con 2017. Each set includes two polishes, Dream and Shine. This listing is for overpour of the polishes, and is sold as a duo. Sparkle Crelly will not be included in this set.”

I purchased these items on my own. They were not provided for review. All photos in this post are taken under artificial light. Shots of the Ever After use Talon Super Swatch & Peel base coat by Nail Hoot, (a clear peel-able vinyl base), and shots of the Great Lakes Lacquer shade use a Sally Hansen base coat, since I wore it as a full mani after swatching. Both are topped with Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat

Let's get into the swatches!

Ever After "Dream"

First up is "Dream" by Ever After. Described as a "button blue scattered holo with blue-to-magenta duochrome microflakes and red holo micro-glitter".

2 coats + topcoat

While "button blue" is possibly the cutest description, it didn't give me a good mental image ahead of seeing this in person. To my eye, this is a medium to light blue base with a bright aqua shimmer and purple/pink sheen at certain angles. Formula was good on this. I have a ton of polishes from Ever After and they often require three coats, but this one surprised me in just two. In certain light, it has almost a foil look to it. Really shiny! The color is fun, bright, and perfect for spring or summer.

Great Lakes Lacquer "Shine"

Shine is describe as "an ultra-linear holo in an amaranth pink base with blue shimmer."

2 coats + topcoat

So I had to google amaranth for reference. In case you were about to, it's a plant harvested for its grain. Now you know! At first, I was confused, since the initial images were all a deep, saturated burgundy plant. But after adding "pink" to my search, the color is spot on.

While I love them both, this is my favorite of the two polishes. I have several light pink holos, but what I love about this one is the blue sheen. It keeps it from ever looking like a nude against my skin tone, and in lower lighting, gives it an almost luminescent vibe. The holo is also nice and strong. Formula was great and easy to work with. My nails are short right now, but I could see longer nails requiring three coats.

What do you think of these shades? I love them both, but my surprise favorite was Shine. I expected to love that bright, happy blue the most, so you never really know!

Don't forget, these are over pour from Polish Con and only available in limited quantities. Head on over to the Ever After site to purchase these beauties for $20 + shipping.
